LegalPrivacyPolicy
How Qlir Publishing handles your information.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Qlir Publishing collects when you use qlirpublishing.com, why we collect it, how we protect it, and the choices you have.
Effective date: August 21, 2026
Qlir Publishing (“Qlir,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and share information when you visit or use our website at qlirpublishing.com and related pages (collectively, the “Site”).
We design the Site to collect as little personal information as possible. In most cases, the primary personal identifier we ask for is your email address—and only when a feature genuinely needs it, such as account registration, product availability notifications, or optional newsletter updates you choose to receive.
By using the Site, you agree to this Privacy Policy and to our Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
For rules governing use of the Site, see our Terms of Use.
Our approach
Privacy by Design & Minimal Collection
We do our best to keep your privacy as high as possible. Qlir Publishing is a discovery and organization website—not a checkout platform. We do not process payments, store payment card details, or complete product purchases through the Site.
Wherever we can, we limit collection to what is needed to operate a specific feature. For many visitors, the only personal information we collect on our systems is an email address submitted for a clear purpose—such as a notify-me request, an account, or newsletter categories you opt into.
The customer dashboard—including wishlists, collection tracking, gift planning, shared wishlists, profile settings, newsletter preferences, and notify-me subscriptions tied to your account—is available when you create an account and sign in.
Before signing in, you may save wishlist, collection, and gift planner choices from product pages on the Site. Those saves are stored with us and linked to an anonymous browser session; if you later register or sign in, we merge that activity into your account.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your information to build advertising profiles for sale to data brokers.
What we collect
Information We Collect
The information we collect depends on how you use the Site. We group it below by source and purpose.
- Account registration: when you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password. Your name is used to initialize your dashboard display name, which you can change later in account settings. We assign a default profile avatar from our predefined avatar set at registration; you can choose a different predefined avatar in your dashboard. You may also opt into newsletter categories during registration.
- Email verification: when you register, we send a confirmation message to your email address and keep the account information needed to complete verification before your first sign-in.
- Password reset: when you request a password reset, we send a secure link to your email address and store a short-lived reset token on our systems so you can choose a new password.
- Sign-in sessions: when you log in, we place an essential secure authentication cookie so you can stay signed in across pages.
- Notify-me requests: when you ask to be notified about product availability, we collect your email address and related product information, such as the product, collection, and availability status, and store it on our systems so we can contact you if the product becomes available.
- Notebook filter notify requests: when you submit a notify request from certain notebook browsing filters, we collect your email address and a description of the selection or filters you chose.
- Newsletter preferences: if you opt in during registration or in your dashboard, we store which newsletter categories you selected—such as new releases or podcast and Radio Qlir updates. If we send marketing or update emails for those categories, we do so only when you have opted in. If you leave all newsletter categories unchecked, we do not send you marketing or newsletter emails for those categories.
- Customer dashboard data: when you are signed in, we store dashboard information tied to your account. This may include wishlist items, products you mark as owned in your collection, gift plans, shared-wishlist settings, share recipient email addresses you add, notify-me subscriptions, profile settings (such as display name and avatar), and newsletter category preferences.
- Guest catalog saves: when you save wishlist, collection, or gift planner items before signing in, we store those choices with an anonymous session linked to your browser. If you later create an account or sign in, we merge that guest activity into your account where applicable.
- Wishlist sharing by email: when you email a wishlist to someone, we process the recipient’s email address and the share link needed to deliver that message, using wishlist data stored with your account.
- Shared wishlist links: if you enable sharing, anyone with an active share link may view the wishlist items reflected in that link.
- Contact messages: when you submit the Contact page form, we collect your name, email address, subject, and message and send it to Qlir Publishing through our email delivery provider. We use this information only to read and respond to your inquiry. We do not use Contact form submissions for unrelated marketing unless you separately opt in.
- Technical and security data: we may process IP addresses and similar connection data for fraud prevention, abuse prevention, and Site security. We use this data to protect the Site, not to profile you for unrelated advertising.
- Browser storage: wishlist, collection, and gift planner saves are stored with us—not as a list saved only in your browser. Guests receive an anonymous session cookie so saves can persist in the same browser and merge into an account when you sign in. Limited browsing preferences—such as gallery shuffle order on some pages—may use session storage that clears when you close the browser tab.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive categories of personal information such as government ID numbers, financial account credentials, or health information through the Site.
Why we use it
How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above for purposes that match what you expect when you use a feature:
- Operate the Site, customer dashboard, and account features you choose to use.
- Send product availability notifications for notify-me requests you submit.
- Send account-related emails such as email verification and password reset messages when applicable.
- Send newsletter or update emails for categories you have opted into, when applicable, and honor preference changes you make in your dashboard.
- Deliver wishlist-share emails you request and operate shared wishlist links you enable.
- Understand aggregated product interest—such as which products appear frequently in wishlists, collections, or notify-me requests—to plan launches, restocks, and product improvements. We use this information in aggregated form for internal product planning. We do not sell this data.
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, enforce our Terms of Use, and comply with applicable law.
- Respond to Contact form messages and other inquiries you send us directly.
We do not use your email address for unrelated marketing if you have not opted into the relevant newsletter categories, and we do not use dashboard information to sell personal data to third parties.
Legal grounds
Legal Basis for Processing
Depending on where you live, different legal bases may apply to how we process personal information. In general, we rely on one or more of the following:
- Consent: when you opt into newsletter categories, submit a notify-me request, create an account, enable wishlist sharing, or otherwise choose to provide information for a specific purpose.
- Contract or service necessity: when processing is needed to provide features you request, such as maintaining your account, storing dashboard data you save with us, or sending availability alerts.
- Legitimate interests: when we process information in a way you would reasonably expect—such as securing the Site, preventing abuse, understanding aggregated product demand, or improving our catalog—balanced against your privacy rights.
- Legal obligation: when we must retain or disclose information to comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request.
Where consent is required and you withdraw it, we will stop processing based on that consent for future activities, subject to any continuing legal or operational need to retain certain records.
How long we keep data
Data Retention
We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.
Account information is kept while your account remains active and for a reasonable period afterward if needed for security, dispute resolution, or legal compliance. If you delete your account from the dashboard, we remove personal identifiers and dashboard data from active use and may retain limited, anonymized aggregate statistics as described in this policy. Notify-me records remain until the related notification purpose is fulfilled or you ask us to remove them where applicable. Contact form submissions are retained only as long as needed to respond and maintain reasonable business records. Newsletter preference records remain until you update or delete your account or preferences.
Sign-in session data is kept only as long as needed to maintain your login or meet operational and security requirements. Dashboard data stored with your account is retained while your account remains active and according to the periods described above.
We may retain aggregated or de-identified information that no longer identifies you for product planning and analytics.
Where data lives
Storage & Infrastructure
Information described in this policy is stored and processed using secure third-party services that help us operate the Site reliably.
We limit what we collect and retain, but we do not publish technical details about our internal systems on the public Site. Infrastructure providers handle information under their own security practices and policies.
Other services
Third-Party Services & External Links
Many important Site functions rely on trusted third-party services. Qlir Publishing does not control those providers’ privacy practices, and their handling of information is governed by their own policies. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of services you interact with through the Site.
- Email delivery: we use a third-party email service to send account verification, password reset, notify-me confirmations, wishlist-share messages, Contact form submissions to Qlir Publishing, and other service emails initiated by Site features.
- Bot and abuse protection: login, registration, password reset, and the Contact form may use third-party verification tools when enabled, which collect information according to the provider’s privacy policy and terms of service.
- Affiliate and purchase links: when you click Buy on Amazon, View on Amazon, Stationery Finds, or other outbound retailer links, you leave the Site and transact under Amazon’s or another seller’s terms and privacy policies. Qlir Publishing does not process your payment and does not receive your checkout details from those platforms through ordinary affiliate navigation.
- Embedded media: the Qlir Podcast, Radio Qlir, collection videos, and similar content may be delivered through third-party platforms such as YouTube, Spotify, or similar services. Those platforms may set cookies or collect usage data when you interact with their players or visit their sites.
- Social profiles: links in our footer or elsewhere may take you to official Qlir Publishing profiles on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, or Amazon. Those platforms handle information under their own policies.
- Website analytics: as of the effective date of this policy, we do not use third-party analytics scripts on the public Site. If that changes, we will update this Privacy Policy.
For affiliate relationships and disclosure language, see our Affiliates page.
Third-party services perform hosting, delivery, email, verification, media embedding, and retailer checkout functions that Qlir Publishing relies on but does not fully control.
Purchases
Payments & Checkout
Qlir Publishing does not collect or process payment card numbers, billing addresses for checkout, or other payment credentials through the Site.
When you choose to purchase a Qlir Publishing product or a third-party recommendation, you are redirected to Amazon or another external retailer or marketplace. Any payment, shipping, returns, and customer service for that purchase are handled entirely by the third party under its own policies.
Affiliate links may allow us to earn a commission from qualifying purchases, but that does not give Qlir Publishing access to your payment information from the retailer.
Cookies & device storage
Cookies, Local Storage & Similar Technologies
The Site uses a limited set of cookies and browser storage technologies:
- Essential session cookie: when you sign in, we set a secure authentication cookie so your account session works across pages.
- Anonymous guest session cookie: when you save wishlist, collection, or gift planner items before signing in, we set a cookie linked to an anonymous session and store those choices with us. If you later create an account or sign in with the same browser, we merge that guest activity into your account.
- Customer dashboard data: wishlists, collection entries, gift plans, share settings, profile settings, newsletter preferences, and related dashboard information are stored with your account—not as a list saved only in your browser.
- Session storage (non-dashboard): limited browsing preferences—such as gallery shuffle order on some pages—may use session storage that clears when you close the browser tab.
- Third-party cookies: embedded players or verification tools from third-party providers may set their own cookies or use similar technologies when you interact with them.
You can control cookies and browser storage through your browser settings. Blocking or clearing the essential session cookie will sign you out of your account. Clearing session storage may reset non-dashboard browsing preferences such as gallery shuffle order.
Verification
Abuse Prevention & Verification
Login, registration, password reset, and the Contact form may use third-party verification tools when enabled to help prevent spam and abuse. When enabled, those tools may analyze interactions and collect device or usage signals processed by the provider.
We use verification tools for security only—not to collect email addresses or dashboard content for unrelated purposes. Use of third-party verification is subject to the provider’s privacy policy and terms of service.
When we disclose
How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the limited circumstances below:
- Service providers: with vendors that help us host the Site, store data, send emails, or protect against abuse, subject to safeguards appropriate to the service.
- Legal and safety: when we believe disclosure is required by law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Qlir Publishing, our users, or others.
- Business transfers: if Qlir Publishing is involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction subject to continued protection consistent with this policy.
- With your direction: when you ask us to send a wishlist email, enable a shared wishlist link, or otherwise initiate a communication or sharing feature.
Affiliate and retailer websites, embedded media platforms, and other third parties you choose to visit from the Site may collect information independently of Qlir Publishing.
